How to change the Network Settings
This brief guide explains how to change network Address, network Channel, and Encryption/Authentication keys of your BlueUp Wirepas devices.
This procedure applies only to BlueUp devices programmed with BlueUp custom Wirepas firmware and uses a custom AppConfig command.
Requirements
- Make sure that the devices you are changing the network to are near the Sink, so that the command is easily propagated to the nodes.
- Our suggestion is to have 2 Sinks: one configured with the source network and one with the destination network. This is recommended to be able to control the devices changing the network.
Procedure
1. Generate the AppConfig Command
In the AppConfig Generator page fill-in the form with the desired parameters:
- Target node class - is the node class to which the new network configuration will be applied. The network Setting changes can be applied to one node class at a time.
- Node address filter - leave the checkbox un-checked to send the command in broadcast to all the nodes of the defined node class. Otherwise, if the new settings have to be applied to one or more nodes, fill-in the node addresses interval.
- Network address - is the New Network Address to apply to the devices. Fill with the current Network Address to leave it unchanged.
- Network channel - is the New Network Channel to apply to the devices. Fill with the current Network Channel to leave it unchanged.
- Encryption/authentication keys to set if you require them, otherwise leave the checkbox un-checked.
Once you have filled the above described fields, Generate the AppConfig.
Suggestion: Copy and Paste the generated AppConfig in a text file before sending it to the network and save it. This can be used to inspect the reason of a possible error that could occur in this operation.
2. Update the Anchors
This step applies only in case the Network settings are changed on the Anchors (Router Nodes).
Since the anchors are always connected to the Wirepas Network, simply propagate the AppConfig Command in the network and wait until all the devices are updated.
3. Update the Tags
This step applies only in case the Network settings are changed on the Tags (Non-router Nodes).
To make sure that the Tags receive the Command they should work in Autoscan mode. The Tag enters Autoscan mode when, for example, an alarm is triggered on the Tag.
When the Tag is in Autoscan mode, propagate the AppConfig Command in the network and wait until all the devices are updated.
Check the devices
Check that the devices have changed their network settings from the Sink configured with the Destination network.
